Ashton Mitchell’s recently completed Carlaw Park Student Village – Stage 3 has been featured on NZ’s ArchitectureNow website. The article describes how the project provides a new model of student accommodation – inspired by existing US college accommodation – which will help the university attract international students as the global market for tertiary education is re-established. The building’s 416 three-to-six-bedroom apartments can accommodate over 1,600 student residents, complete with ample communal spaces and a large central courtyard. The recently completed project is the third stage of student accommodation in the Carlaw Park Student Village, the largest of its kind in the country.
“The $250 million University of Auckland facility designed by Clifford Paul of Ashton Mitchell, will create a new model in student accommodation. Which can be deployed throughout the country — is intended to address a shortage of apartments in our tertiary institutions.”
